So like many others that are going through hard times in this new world of covid I to have been struggling with many things including my walk with Jesus. I’ve been battling God for weeks over different reasons, (like I was gonna to win…🙄) . But I guess in the end I really did win, because after I gave up and gave in I prayed like I have never prayed before and God comforted me and showed me that He wasn’t the problem, He is the solution. I’m still struggling with some things but now I am praying instead of arguing and I feel the weight being lifted. I am a stubborn old lady and I thank God, He is a patient and loving God other wise I would be headed to hell. All of that to tell you what happened to me as I was praying for God to show me what He wanted me to read in His Word. So when I was done praying I opened right to the beginning of Hosea. Now that has happened a couple times and I would always turn to another book and start reading. Well this time I decided I better read the book of Hosea. Now I have to let you know that I did not go to Bible College nor can I quote chapter and verse I’m just a simple person that took a very long time after being saved to start studying God’s Word.
Now let me get to what I want to share with you from the Book of Hosea. This is located in the NKJV Spirit-Filled Bible Third Edition. I just love this Bible it has a lot of helpful information in it to help you understand God’s Word. In the beginning of each book they give information about the Author, background and date, content, personal application, Christ revealed and the Holy Spirit at work. So far I’ve only made it to the Background and Date, section of Hosea and as I read it I was reminded of what is going on in the world today and felt that I needed to share. I am going to share the part of this section with you that I feel describs exactly where we are today. So please let me know your thoughts.
“The people of this period enjoyed peace, plenty, and prosperity;but anarchy was brewing, and it would bring the political collapse of the nation in a few short years. Hosea describes the characteristic social conditions of his day: corrupt leaders, unstable family life, widespread immorality, class hatred, and poverty. Though people continued a form of worship, idolatry became more and more accepted and the priests were failing to guide the people into ways of righteousness. In spite of the darkness of these days Hosea holds out hope to inspire his people to turn back to God”.
For me this is us right now, before covid 19 I would say we had peace, plenty, and prosperity then the covid 19 pandemic hit and things went down hill fast, very fast. When covid hit it shut down the entire world and hurt the economy in a way that I believe will be very hard to recover from. I don’t believe that we will ever go back to what we thought of as normal because I believe God has different plans. I also believe the political collapse of America will happen in a lot shorter time than in the days of Hosea. The social conditions of Hosea’s day pretty much describes where we are today, corrupt leaders (on both sides), unstable family life (divorce, abuse, cheating), widespread immorality (wickedness), class hatred (prejudice or discrimination on the basis of social class), and poverty (homelessness due to loss of jobs). Isaiah 5:20 says “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter”! Luke 21:28 says “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near”. This is our hope for today that Jesus is coming back to Rapture us out of this world and I pray you are ready!
If you haven’t accepted Christ as your savior yet and would like to do so, please pray these words:
“Jesus, I acknowledge I am a sinner and I am in need of salvation. Thank you for your sacrifice on the cross. Come into my heart and make me new. Thank you for your gift of eternal life. Help me to learn to walk with you now. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
If you prayed that prayer, please tell someone that can help guide you in the next steps of your relationship with Jesus.
God Bless,
Beverly H.
